BICT Shortlisted for International Intelligent Communities Program

BICT recently submitted an application for the Intelligent Communities Program. The application was centred around the Ballarat ICT 2030 Strategy document, and the work of the UB Technology Park and its tenants.

BICT was recently advised their application has been shortlisted to the Smart21 Communities of 2010.

Further information will be provided to the judging panel by 31 December 2009, for the opportunity to be shortlisted to the Top Seven Intelligent Communities of the Year.

BICT Executive Officer Appointed
Ballarat ICT Limited has appointed an Executive Officer. Mr Ian Fry will take up the position in early 2010, and will be based in the Global Innovation Centre at the University of Ballarat Technology Park.

BICT Meets with Minister Conroy

On 25 September BICT representatives Mal Vallance, Ian Fry and Helen Thompson met with Minister Stephen Conroy, his policy adviser, Andrew Laigan, and Catherine King MP.

Discussion was primarily centred around the National Broadband Network, and a summary of the specific items covered during the meeting are outlined in the document attached to this item's headline.
