BITS Breakfast back in action
The Ballarat ICT 2030 Strategy was the topic of conversation at the BITS Breakfast which was held on 27 March 2007 at the Barkly Motor Inn and attended by around 30 local information technology specialists.
Steve Pinson from Commander Centre welcomed attendees to the first Breakfast for 2007. Associate Professor John Yearwood from the University of Ballarat then presented information about the Ballarat ICT 2030 Strategy.
John explained how cBallarat and the University of Ballarat have formed a partnership to produce ICT 2030 the next generation strategy of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) for the Ballarat region. This initiative will build on Ballarat’s emerging reputation as the Regional ICT capital of Australia. He then explained:
- How did the Ballarat ICT 2030 Strategy take shape?
- What are the goals of the Strategy?
- How will the Strategy benefit Ballarat?
- How do ICT firms get involved?
Profession Julian Lowe chaired a Panel which led discussion. Other panel participants included Robert Hook (University of Ballarat Technology Park Advisory Committee), George Fong (cBallarat).
ICT 2030 will be a framework from which to develop ICT capacity, investment and employment opportunities critical to Ballarat’s future.
