Minister Tim Holding Visits Ballarat
IR Gurus Studio Opening
On 28th June 2007, Minister for Information and Communication Technology, Tim Holding was in town to announce that Ballarat is set to become Victoria's first regional hub for computer games development with Melbourne-based developer IR Gurus opening a studio at the University of Ballarat Technology Park.
From its new base in the Global Innovation Centre, IR Gurus, who will be employing 20 people over two years, will create new titles and develop software for multiple platforms, including PC, Xbox360, Nintendo Wii, Sony PSP and PS3. Popular games titles include Heroes of the Pacific, Saddle Club and Gaelic Games Football. For more information on IR Gurus visit www.irgurus.com.
IBM Reach Milestone Workforce
As well as announcing the new IR Gurus venture Minister Holding was at Technology Park to congratulate it's leading partner IBM on their workforce milestone. IBM's workforce recently reached 700 people, going from strength to strength since establishing its presence at the University of Ballarat Techonology Park in 1995.
