The Australian Telecommunications Users Group (ATUG) will be visiting Ballarat on the 11th and 12th of November as part of their national 2008 Regional Communications Roadshow.
The Roadshow is a free information event for local residents community organisations and businesses on the latest developments from government and industry on broadband and 3G mobile services for regional communities.
ATUG will be at the Ballarat Public Library from9.30am to 2.30pm on the 12th and at the Best Community Development Centre from 5.00pm to 7.00pm to answer any questions you might have about broadband and how to register for the Government broadband subsidy program, the Australian Broadband Guarantee (ABG).
Any Australian who can’t access a broadband service which reasonably compares to services in metropolitan areas at their principal place of residence or small business is eligible to receive a subsidised service under the ABG.
ATUG will also have information about 3G mobile services, wireless broadband services, Digital Television, Internet Security, the Do Not Call register and the Telecommunications Industry Ombudsman scheme.
Since 2003 ATUG’s Regional Communications Roadshow has visited over 66 towns, travelled over 70,000 kilometres and has spoken with over 2,700 people.
ATUG is an independent not-for-profit membership organisation and has worked with industry and government to meet the needs of end users over the last 27 years.
