This report has provided information on Ballarat's ICT firms, their capabilities, size, relationships and needs. It has summarised the nature breadth and potential of the ICT cluster and provided some insight into business attitudes in areas such as collaboration and competition. There is still a need to identify potential areas of opportunity and intention towards participation in the Ballarat ICT Cluster. This will be one area of focus in the Phase 2 activities. The report provides some preliminary indications of current utilisation of ICT by non-ICT firms and identifies areas of potential opportunity for improving the relationship with local ICT firms. These areas will be further clarified through workshops with ICT firms.
The report provides an evidence base upon which the Phase 2 activities can be founded. This stage will focus on the development of an organisational plan for the Ballarat ICT Cluster. The plan will be developed collaboratively with representatives from ICT firms and support organisations, Ballarat ICT Cluster Steering Committee members and board representatives from cBallarat. It will incorporate:
-
Cluster vision and governance arrangements.
-
Prioritised recommendations based on key issues and outcomes of the study.
-
Communication strategies in promote information exchange and the local knowledge base.
-

-
