Be Safe in Cyber Space Twilight forum
The feedback from attendees at the ‘Be Safe in Cyber Space’ Twilight Forum held on 11 November, 2008 has now been collated.

On Tuesday 16 December 2008, the monthly UBTP & BITS Breakfast welcomed Mr Ivan Slavich, CEO of TransACT, a major telecommunications company based in Canberra.

Linux Conference, 2009.
Google and Linux have offered to subsidise travel to the Linux Conference for female delegates - 2009 in Hobart, Tasmania from between the 19-24 January.
The joint Diversity Delegates programme will provide selected participants with a travel subsidy to offset travel and accommodation costs to attend the conference, as well as a subsidised Professional registration ticket representing over 50% savings.
Applications close at 23:59:59 AEDT December 21st, 2008.

2009- Vic ICT Women Mentoring Program
Vic ICT for Women received very positive feedback from our 2008 Mentoring Programand will therefore initiate the2009 Mentoring program early in the new year. They are now seeking expressions of interest from members to participate in the program as Mentees or as Mentors.
In an attempt to attract more Mentors Vic ICT for Women are opening the Mentor role to non-members and males as well as females. Also, next year the Mentees can nominate to be mentored on either ICT or Leadership or a combination of both. Therefore, should you have colleagues that you believe could provide effective mentoring in either ICT or Leadership please forward them this invitation.
There is no charge for participation. Mentors are typically women or men with extensive ICT&/or Leadership experience. Mentees must be members of the Victorian ICT for Women Network.
Please register your interest below BEFORE January 21st.
The Mentoring program will begin with an induction meeting at 5pm on Thursday, February 19th at Level 1, 257 Collins St, where Mentors and Mentees will be introduced to each other. Mark this date in your diary.
This program runs from February '09 and will conclude in November '09. It is designed to:
- build confidence and self esteem
- foster networking
- provide both formal and informal learning opportunities
- facilitate the professional development of women in ICT

Collaborative Internet Innovation Fund- Round 1 Now Open
The Victorian Government recently launched the Collaborative Internet Innovation Fund (cIIF), a new $15 million competitive grants program, as part of the Victorian Government’s innovation statement Innovation: Victoria’s Future
We are pleased to announce Round 1 of the program is now open.
The program provides project-based funding to support early adopters of next generation ICT (or web 2.0 technologies) to develop new ways of working and solving problems.
Victorian Government departments and agencies, industry bodies, local governments, community organisations and business groups are all encouraged to apply for funding under the program. Projects must be collaborative and involve multiple partners or organisations working together.
