::UBTP and BITS Breakfast- 21 October 2008
Margot Ingoldby, Manager Smart SMEs- Market Validation Program, and her colleagues from DIIRD spoke about how new program initiatives announced under Victoria’s Innovation Statement will make a significant contribution to regional business outcomes.
Attendee feedback about this event was significantly positive, and most attendees found the presentation worthwhiile and beneficial for their businesses.

::UBTP and BITS Breakfast- 16 September 2008
The September UBTP & BITS Breakfast was well informed by Stephen McCombie from nabCERT at the National Australia Bank. Stephen spoke about Cybercrime response, computer forensics, security research and strategic IT threat intelligence.
Attendance at this month's breakfast was great, with a considerable increase in the number of attendees participating in the Breakfast presentation.

::UBTP and BITS Breakfast- 19 August 2008
The August UBTP & BITS Breakfast welcomed Crispin Blackall, Director of Future Technology Solutions at Telstra. Crispin undertakes a role where he is accountable for emerging technology strategy and leading a team that identifies innovation in emerging technologies.
Attendees at this breakfast enjoyed a hearty breakfast with many current and new Ballarat ICT members making the most of the networking opportunity.

::UBTP and BITS Breakfast- 15 July 2008
This month's breakfast attendees were informed by guest speaker David Howe of Advanced VTOL Technologies. David and his team are currently working on the new maritime helicopter aid as part of a Concept Technology Demonstrator (CTD) grant from the Defence Science and Technology Organisation (DSTO).
Participants enjoyed the always pleasing cooked breakfast and received a basic education on the complexities of aviation engineering. Attendees enjoyed the fascinating subject matter and liked the access to new knowledge and new insights into the highly dynamic aviation technology. One guest was particularly impressed at being able to listen to a local business with such high class technology speak about their endeavours and recent success in their industry.
This month's event was hugely successful with 100% of respondents to this month's event evaluation stating that they plan to attend future UB Technology Park and Ballarat IT Specialists events in the future.

::UBTP and BITS Evening Networking Event- 17 June 2008
This was the first evening networking event for 2008 which was a great success with many people enjoying the social aspect of the evening. This month's guest speaker was John Davies, Program Director of iT4Communities in the United Kingdom. iT4Communities is the leading UK information technology volunteering program. Its main areas of activity include: introducing skilled, professional volunteers in the voluntary and community sector organisations looking for help with IT projects.
Attendees enjoyed listening to a speaker from the non-commercial sector speaking about the challenges of IT. While many loved this particular event being held in central Ballarat, many also commented on the benefits of having events at the University of Ballarat Technology Park. The number of attendees at this event showed the obvious interest in the international experience the presenter was able to speak about.
Participants enjoyed scrumptious canapes and beverages before and after the presentation allowing great conversations to be generated and numerous positive networks to be made between businesses and local Ballarat IT professionals
::UBTP and BITS Breakfast- 20 May 2008
This breakfast welcomed guest speaker Mr Andrew Watts, Chief Information Officer of the Bendigo Bank. Andrew canvassed a range of areas in his address, with focus on background on the Bendigo and Adelaide banks, managing Information Technology as a business and a business partner, and challenges involved in merging the Bendigo and Adelaide Banks. Andrew moved into IT in 2006 as General Manager, Business Integration and strategy, and was appointed Chief Information Officer in August 2007. Following the merger of Bendigo and Adelaide Banks in December, Andrew is overseeing a major program to bring together business systems and infrastructure to support the merged entity.
Attendees enjoyed hearing from a 'non-IT' professional in a business role controlling IT. Guests also mentioned that the quality of the speaker and topical content was highly valuable to their particular organisations. Attendees at this breakfast mentioned that although they realise it is about ICT, it would be useful once in a while to have speakers who come from other types of businesses (maybe a HR business or a community organisation).
::UBTP and BITS Breakfast- 15 April 2008
The second combined UBTP and BITS Breakfast attracted 47 participants when it was held at the Greenhill Enterprise Centre on Tuesday 15 April 2008. The Guest Speaker was Ms Megan O'Neill, Investigator and Incident Responder from IBM's Computer Emergence Response Team (Sydney Office). Megan spoke about her role in investigating and responding to attack organised crime gangs trying to commit fraud and espionage against IBM's customers. The challenge's of dusting the computer footprints, analysing the bones of malware, fishing for phishers, and fighting the good fight against ICT threat worldwide were confirmed as all too real.

:: UBTP and BITS Breakfast- 18 March 2008
Thirty four people participated in the first combined University of Ballarat Technology Park (UBTP) and Ballarat IT Specialists Breakfast which was which was held at the Greenhill Enterprise Centre on Tuesday, 18 March 2008. The Guest Speaker was Justine Linley, the Regional Manager- Grampians Region for Regional Development Victoria. Through her presentation Justine provided attendees with information on RDV program and support measures fro SME's, within the "Moving Forward in Provincial Victoria" policy initiative. The Moving Forward program is the Victorian Government's new $500 million blueprint for action and achievement that will drive growth in provincial Victoria over the next five to ten years.

::BITS Network End of Year Gathering - 18 December 2007
An evening function was held at the Barkly Motor Lodge on 18 December 2008 to help acknowledge Ballarat ICT Cluster Member achievements during 2007.
:: BITS Network- 4 October 2007- Eureka Centre Redevelopment
Katherine Armstrong from Lateral Projects provided background information and highlighted the opportunities for involvement from membersof the Ballarat ICT Cluster in the proposed redevelopment of the Eureka Centre. Twenty two members of the Ballarat ICT Cluster joined in the discussion and found out how their organisation could benefit by getting involved.
::Breakfast Event- 26 June 2007- VOIP! WHAT IS IT?
The Panel Discussion for the June BITS breakfast focused on Voice Over IP, its impact on telecommunications, and the implications for small business in particular.Participants were able to hear from users and from several different vendors about the reality of VOIP for business use.

:: Breakfast Event - Ballarat ICT 2030 - 27 March 2007
The Ballarat Information Technology Specialist held its first function for 2007 on 27 March 2007. More than 30 IT specialists from Ballarat and district took part in a panel discussion on the Ballarat ICT 2030 strategy.
