ICT PROFESSIONAL PRESENTS TO LOG_ON PARTICIPANTS

Log_on is a program giving young people interested in ICT and web development the opportunity to work alongside Industry Mentors to develop the skills required to build a professional quality website. Working on real life, hands on projects participants gain valuable experience and skills while building on their portfolios. With these skills the young participants take on the role of team leaders, working alongside not for profit groups, sharing their knowledge to assist them build their own site, which they can then maintain longterm.

Through their involvement in Log_on, the aim is  to give the young participants not only the opportunity to work on real life projects, but also the opportunity to broaden their ICT networks in the community and better inform them of the career opportunities that exist for them in their community.

As part of this initiative, and with the support of Ballarat ICT, Log_on are inviting industry professionals to meet with the log_on participants in their 'work' environment. 

The industry visits were kick started during National ICT careers week (July 28- Aug 1, 2008), with a presentation from Zhu Castaldi of IBM. Zhu spoke about her extensive career and the opportunities that have come with it, including the opportunity to travel the world.

Log_on is continually looking for inspiring and enthusiastic ICT industry professionals to offer their assistance and knowledge to this wonderful community program.
