GROWING REGIONAL EXPORTS THROUGH THE BALLARAT ICT CLUSTER
The fourth panel on Tuesday 19 June 2007 will bring a number of individuals and organisations with experience and knowledge about the successful development of export opportunities in a regional location. This event will be held between 4 pm and 6 pm at the Greenhill Enterprise Centre Conference Room and be facilitated by Prof Julian Lowe, Director of the Centre for Regional Innovation and Competitiveness (CRIC) at the University of Ballarat.
Background
To grow your firm and get it ready for export, businesses need to research and evaluate potential export markets. To understand market opportunities and the markets entry requires industry contacts, government contacts, people and plans to develop strategies for new marketplaces. One of the best ways to learn about what to expect when your firm enters into exporting is to learn from those that have already conquered the markets your firm may wish to enter into. In the panel we are bringing experts and IT businesses together to share their export experiences and discuss the potential of growing Ballarat ™s ICT exports by working collaboratively.
Questions
- Is ICT export more challenging/complex than any other product?
- Can you tell us what export processes you go through and can you share in specific export challenges, experiences and insights?
- What are the different ways collaboration for export could work?
- What would Ballarat partners seek in these collaborations?
- Are there examples that can illuminate successful collaboration?
- How do we build capacity of the ICT cluster through collaborative export rather than ad hoc export activities?
- How can the Ballarat ICT cluster best work with the various export assistance agencies?
